The Bridge Connection

Dr. Bridges holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration degree with a major in industrial relations (now called human resources management) from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa plus a Master of Science in personnel counseling from Troy State University plus a Master of Administrative Science degree from The University of Alabama in Huntsville plus a Doctorate in Public Administration from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa specializing in human resources management and organizational theory.

He is the former manager of the Birmingham office of the Alabama State Employment Service where he served in that capacity for 16 years.  Prior to that time he was the assistant manager of that office and employment counseling supervisor in the Huntsville office and employment counselor at the Birmingham Youth Opportunity Center of the Alabama State Employment Service and as a statistician with the State of Alabama's Department of Human Resources in Montgomery and quality control chemical laboratory technician for the Alabama Metallurgical Corporation in Selma Alabama.

Dr. Bridges is certified for life as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Human Resources Certification Institute.  He is a current member of the Birmingham Society for Human Resources Management where he served in numerous officer positions including President.  He is also a member of the national Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA).  In addition, he is a member of the Greater Birmingham chapter of ASPA, the state and local Industrial Relations Research Association (IRRA), and the International Association of Employees in Employment Security.

In addition to consulting duties, Dr. Bridges serves as an adjunct faculty member in The University of Alabama at Birmingham's Master of Public Administration, teaching the human resources management course which is a degree requirement. Also, he is the Dean of the School of Civil Sciences for Andrew Jackson University (an accredited distance learning institution). He does volunteer work as a co-leader for  the Career Transition Ministry at Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham.
